DOUGLAS WYNNE wrote his first dark fantasy novel at the age of fifteen but took a creative detour soon after to spend the next decade writing songs and singing in rock bands. After earning his BA in Music Production and Engineering at Berklee College of Music and working a short stint as a recording engineer in Woodstock, NY, he came full circle back to fiction writing and is recently the author of several critically acclaimed novels, including The Devil of Echo Lake, Steel Breeze, and the SPECTRA Files trilogy (Red Equinox, Black January, and Cthulhu Blues).
His short fiction has appeared in numerous anthologies, and his writing workshops have been featured at genre conventions and schools throughout New England. He lives in Massachusetts with his wife and son and a houseful of animals where he also produces music and audio fiction.
"Wynne’s precise, high-tension story builds to an explosive finale. Fans of occult fantasy will be happy to sink their teeth into this shadowy world."
"This book sings a dark, dark song – it's got a grim rhythm that even rock-and-roll has forgotten. If you're standing at the crossroads and you don't know where to go, take the road that leads you to this book."
"A heady, entertaining techno/cyber thriller that feels very now. Don’t let the game play you."
"Wynne weaves a spell that will take you back in time, slip you into alternate universes, and drench you in a hot, smoky world filled with tantric sex, mad scientists, mysterious cults, secret government agencies and characters that leap off the page to pull you in. Don’t miss this ride."
"Fans of John Connolly and Preston & Child will love Black January, a top-notch supernatural thriller full of suspense, horror, and wonder, with the coolest opening I’ve read in ages. Douglas Wynne is the real deal."
"Filled with twists and the Lovecraftian vibe these SPECTRA Files stories are known for, Cthulhu Blues works well as a standalone novel, but I certainly recommend reading all three books in the series."
"Wynne combines the cinematic imagery of sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll with a good old-fashioned ghost story."
"No Lovecraft fan–or horror fan for that matter–should miss this one! Philosophical and creepy…I enjoyed it immensely."
"Douglas Wynne proves that he is a master of suspense and fear. Very highly recommended."
"His Own Devices is a fast-paced, all-too-real thrill ride through every modern parent’s worst nightmare."
"Wynne expands upon Lovecraftian mythology with style."
"Wynne skillfully blends ancient myth, modern events, and Lovecraftian ideas into a fast-paced narrative about the places where history official and history secret collide."
